EMW Helps NC3A Deliver CENTRIXS-ISAF Phase 1
Herndon, Virginia — EMW was awarded a contract for the delivery of the fully redundant network interconnection points between the NATO ISAF (International Security Assistance Force) network and the USFOR-A (United States Forces Afghanistan) mission network, referred to as CENTRIXS-ISAF (Combined ENTerprise Regional Information eXchange System-ISAF). The primary interconnection point is located at Kandahar Airfield and the back-up interconnection point at the ISAF HQ in Kabul.
This unprecedented effort was accomplished in a mere 4 months from authorization to completion, with final delivery on October 13th. With the advent of CENTRIXS-ISAF, electronic communication between NATO and US forces in the Afghan theatre could now take place in a seamless way, as though over a single network domain, transparently to the user. This information sharing—via emails, chats and VoIP telephony—uses advanced technology to provide a robust network satisfying the basic requirements for availability, survivability, and network re-routing following any potential outage.
With CENTRIXS-ISAF, other nations now have a model to emulate to connect their national networks to NATO networks. The completion of Phase 1 and the resultant creation of a shared environment paves the way for a new phase that will focus on the integration of applications and data across the new unified network.
EMW takes pride in our success in serving NATO on many and varied projects over the past several years.
